Director: Dr. Riaz Ahmad is working as, Head of NUST International office and Director Quality Assurance since 2016. Prior to this position, he held an equally important position of Director Research at this university for 4 years. During his 20 years association with NUST, he has served as professor and Associate professor for 12 years. He has honour of being founding member of the academic team, that raised the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing at NUST main campus. At this nascent institution, he worked as Head of Mechanical Engineering department, beside raising new department of Design and Manufacturing engineering.
College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE) PAF, is another constituent college of NUST, where he served two tenures as professor and Head of Industrial Engineering department. He also taught at department of Aerospace Engineering as faculty member for two years.
Dr. Riaz Ahmad earned his Bachelor’s degree from NED University, Karachi in 1984, in field of Aerospace Engineering, and Masters and PhD in the field of Aeronautical Manufacturing from Beijing University Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) China. After his graduation in 1984, he held various field assignments as field maintenance engineer in Pakistan Air Force. To his advantage, he had unique opportunity to engage in factory level projects of National importance at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex. It afforded a great experience of working with foreign experts.
Beside his industrial and academic management positions, he has extensive engagement with graduate research students. As a researcher, he has widely published his work in National/International journals and conferences. Through his active engagement in research, he has been able to publish over 70 research articles. His publications include journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters in the field of mechanical/aeronautical manufacturing.

Deputy Director: Dr. Miriam Kathleen Gomez graduated from ASAB, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, with a BS (hons) in Applied Biosciences, followed by MS in healthcare biotechnology from ASAB, NUST. Miriam then went on to do a doctorate degree in Genetics and Molecular Medicine, at Nicola Murray Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, Edinburgh Cancer Research Center at IGMM, University of Edinburgh, UK. As a part of her Ph.D, she was greatly involved with science communication and public engagement initiatives at University of Edinburgh and participated in Lab tours for local community/charities and schools, Science Festivals with University of Edinburgh, CRUK and Genetics Society, as a volunteer. Through these interactive experiences, coupled with her fervor for teaching, she developed an interest in making science accessible for all. With her current role as Deputy Director at NUST international Office she has the responsibility to oversee the strategies and steps taken to improve international student and staff experience, promote collaboration with international partners and support internationalization at NUST. Through the platform she enjoys at NUST and a student centric approach, she aims to pursue teaching, work towards developing sustainable international collaborations to enhance the learning environment at NUST and actively pursue avenues to bring science to the public.

Assistant Director (International Partnerships): Mr. Adeel Ahmed carries a qualification of Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Newcastle, Australia. He did his B.Sc from Punjab University. He has a vast working experience of fifteen years with various organisations in Pakistan and Malaysia. With a background in corporate sector, Adeel joined NUST in 2008. He has served NUST in various capacities and is currently performing his duties as Assistant Director International Partnerships. Mr. Ahmed is responsible for processing cases of International MoUs/DoUs with global partners to enhance NUST’s ability to make a positive impact in Pakistan and World over. With his hands-on approach he ensures that NUST’s mission and values are projected efficiently through the partnerships and collaborations.

Assistant Director (International Student Support): Ms. Marina Javed holds Master of Research (MRes) from Sheffield Hallam University, UK with merit and Master of Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from International Islamic University (IIUI), Pakistan. She did Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA Hons) from Bahria University, Pakistan with majors in Human Resource Management. Ms. Javed worked as an intern at Centre for Development and Research in Education, Sheffield and also in HR Directorate of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Islamabad. Through her involvement in extra-curricular activities such as organizing-body member for cultural festival representing Pakistan while in UK, conducting a training and development workshop in Combined Engineering and Integrated Solutions (CEIS), Islamabad, fundraising for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, Lahore, Ms Marina has developed a people-focused approach. She is now working as Assistant Director International Student and Staff support at NUST and with her zeal ensures that all students’ NUST journey is scholastically and non-scholastically fulfilling and they feel part of the NUST family.

Assistant Director (International Recruitment & Strategy Development): Mr. Waasay Ahmad Khan has completed his Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA Hons) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) with majors in marketing from NUST Business School, Islamabad. He then proceeded to Sydney, Australia to undertake Masters with double majors in Marketing and Business Analytics from University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia where he tutored a course for one semester and was an active member of UNSW Marketing Society (Marksoc) and various other student clubs. Prior to joining the HE sector, Mr. Khan has had valuable marketing experience of a year and a half working at the pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan, as well as two internships in Mobilink and GDF Suez in the marketing wing. Waasay joined NUST in November 2019 and is working as Assistant Director International Recruitment Strategies. His current role is to formulate and implement strategies and policies for international student recruitment at NUST. Waasay is passionate about the ability of HE to change lives and has a strong interest in diversity and equality. With his background in marketing, he is working to define internationalization strategies with an approach to maximize knowledge transfer.
